Sergeant’s Products not involved in the Recall of Eight In One’s Chick’n Jerky.

Eight In One, Inc., a division of United Pet Group, Inc., announced a nation wide recall of all lots of Dingo® CHICK'N JERKY treats on Saturday March 31, 2007 due to the potential contamination of Salmonella. The products subject to this national recall are Dingo CHICK'N JERKY 3.5 oz. and 8 oz. for dogs and Dingo Kitty CHICKEN JERKY 1.5 oz. for cats and Dingo Ferret CHICKEN JERKY 1.5 oz for ferrets.

Sergeant’s Pet Care Products would like to assure it’s Customers and Consumers that pet treats sold under Sergeant’s, Uncle Sam’s, and Old West Treat Company brands, are not in any way involved in this recall.

Sergeant’s Pet Care Products Company, has been proactive in establishing quality systems to provide safe and healthy products to its customers. The Quality Systems implemented at Sergeant’s include; product conformance, plant sanitation, process validation & control, and pathogen testing. Quality inspections are conducted at the time of manufacturing to verify product compliance to physical, chemical, and nutritional specifications along with the absence of pathogens. Secondary inspections are made at the time of receiving at our Distribution Centers where visual inspections are made and periodic samples are pulled for microbial, chemical, and nutritional compliance. Suppliers of materials are held to the same standards and expectations as Sergeant’s own plants.

We at Sergeant’s, work hard to assure our products are of high quality, nutritious, and are safe. We will continue to strive to improve our performance and the quality of our products.

Recall of pet food from Menu Foods

Due to the recent recall from Menu Foods, Sergeant’s Pet Care Products would like to assure it’s consumers that the Sergeant’s, Uncle Sam’s, and Old West Treat Company treats are not in any way involved in this recall.

Although it is not confirmed, an unknown substance was found on or in the wheat gluten that was added to the pet foods. It is also believed that the wheat and wheat gluten was obtained from a foreign source. Only a small number of Sergeant’s Products use wheat Gluten as an ingredient and this Wheat Gluten is from domestic sources.

We can assure you that Sergeant’s makes every attempt to be certain our treat products are of the highest quality and are safe to feed to animals.

Recall of Pig Ear Dog Treats by Petrapport

Due to the recent recall from Petrapport, Sergeant’s Pet Care Products would like to assure it’s consumers that the Sergeant’s, Uncle Sam’s, and Old West Treat Company treats are not involved in any way with this recall.

We can assure you that Sergeant’s makes every attempt to be certain our treat products are of the highest quality and are safe to feed to animals. Our production plant is run near food grade, and the plant is thoroughly sanitized at the end of production each day. It is also our standard operating procedure to analyze multiple samples from every lot code for the existence of bacteria and other pathogens. If any pathogens are found and confirmed in any of our production samples, all products in these production lots are isolated and removed from inventory for disposition.
