Small animals should be fed and watered every day. Their feeding requirements vary depending on the pet, with each species having its own particular diet. One type of small animal food cannot be substituted for another. Food substitution can cause health problems.
Fresh fruits and vegetables such as apples,
lettuce and oranges are a great way to supplement
a small animal’s diet.
Treats are a great way to bond with your pet,
but you should be careful not to overfeed it,
as this can lead to obesity. Treats should comprise
less than ten percent of your pet’s diet.
It goes without saying that your small animal
needs a generous supply of fresh water to stay
healthy. Make sure water is changed often and
is accessible in your animal’s cage.
For information regarding the proper feeding
of a particular species of small animal, please
consult your veterinarian.
